Hosting HUD Fellows
Recipients of the US Department of Housing & Urban
Development’s Community Development Work Study Program fellowships are
selected from among the entering classes of the Master of City Planning (MCP)
degree program in the Department of City & Regional Planning.
IURD hosts the recipients. Fellowships allow students from
under-represented backgrounds unique opportunities to work in the field
supervised by the Community Partnerships Office (CPO). While providing a
home base for addressing theoretical questions about community development
issues, the CPO places Fellows with community-based agencies and
departments of local government, giving them diverse assignments in
community development, economic revitalization, small business assistance,
neighborhood and community planning, and related fields. Over the course
of the two-year city planning masters degree program, students typically
find placements at three sites.
