American Institute of Certified Planners  AICP is the professional institute of the American Planning Association concerned with requirements for certification of professional planners, ethics, professional development, planning education, and the standards of practice.

American Planning Association   Your link to information about APA's programs and services, planning research, info on educational opportunities and careers in planning, conferences, publications, etc.

Association of Bay Area Governments  ABAG is one of more than 560 regional planning agencies across the nation working to help solve problems in areas such as land use, housing, environmental quality, and economic development.

Association of Collegiate Schools of Planning  ACSP is a consortium of university-based programs offering credentials in urban and regional planning.

Association of European Schools of Planning  AESOP is a network of universities and university departments that teach and conduct research within the field of urban and regional planning.

Berkeley Planning Journal  The Berkeley Planning Journal is a nationally distributed publication for planning research, theory, and practice, established to promote the work of the Berkeley planning community.

Berkeley Roundtable on the International Economy  BRIE is an interdisciplinary research group that focuses on the interactions of international economic competition and the development and application of advanced technologies.

CALFED Bay-Delta Program   The mission of the CALFED Bay-Delta Program is to develop a long-term comprehensive plan that will restore ecological health and improve water management for beneficial uses of the Bay-Delta System.

California Center for Public Dispute Resolution  The California Center for Public Dispute Resolution is a joint program of California State University, Sacramento, and the McGeorge School of Law at University of the Pacific. The Center offers services to parties seeking collaborative solutions for public decisions and disputes at the federal, state, regional, and local levels. The Center offers its clients services such as mediation, facilitation, conflict assessment, training in consensus-building, and dispute resolution systems design.

California Center for Regional Leadership  The CCRL is a statewide nonprofit organization established to support, facilitate, and promote innovative regional solutions for major economic, environmental, and societal challenges, to help achieve a more sustainable California. CCRL works with a network of collaborative regional organizations throughout California, and works on behalf of this network to encourage and enable effective regional strategies by local and state government.

California Council for Environmental & Economic Balance  The CCEEB is a coalition of California business, labor and public policy leaders who work together to advance collaborative strategies for a sound economy and a healthy environment.

California Department of Housing & Community Development  As California's principal housing agency, its mission is to provide leadership, policies and programs to expand and preserve safe and affordable housing opportunities and promote strong communities for all Californians.

California Department of Transportation  The Caltrans web site provides information about road and traffic information, as well as the latest policies, manuals, and reports affecting local agencies with projects involving State or Federal Funds.

California Department of Water Resources  The Department of Water Resources (DWR) was created by the California Legislature in 1956 to plan and guide the development of the State's water resources.

California Employment Development Department  The EDD web site provides information about employment and training; labor market information; and forms and publications, in addition to its many programs and services.

California Futures Network   CFN is a statewide coalition of organizations working to achieve land use policies that are fiscally, socially and environmentally sound.

California Planning Roundtable  The California Planning Roundtable is an organization of experienced planning professionals who are members of the American Planning Association.   The mission of the Roundtable is to promote creativity and excellence in planning by providing leadership in addressing important planning issues in California.

California Research Bureau  The California Research Bureau within the California State Library provides nonpartisan, confidential research to the Governor's Office, members of both houses of the Legislature, and other state constitutional officers. The Bureau provides these clients with research, policy assistance through written reports and other documents, consultations, seminars, and other training and assistance in preparing legislative proposals.

California Transportation Commission  The Commission is responsible for the programming and allocating of funds for the construction of highway, passenger rail and transit improvements throughout California.

Center for Continuing Study of the California Economy  CCSCE was founded as an independent, private economic research organization specializing in the analysis and study of California. CCSCE focuses on long term economic and demographic trends in the state and its major economic regions.

The Citistates Group  The Citistates Group is a network of journalists, speakers and advisers committed to competitive, equitable and sustainable 21st century metropolitan regions.

City & Regional Planning Department (UC Berkeley)  Part of the College of Environmental Design at UC Berkeley, the department offers several degree programs including the Masters of City Planning (MCP) and the Ph.D. program.   Information about degree programs, course descriptions, admissions, faculty and more is provided on the web site.

Collaborative Regional Initiatives Network  A virtual meeting place for civic entrepreneurs to find information, share lessons, and develop innovative approaches to improving their regions.

CyberHood  An online forum featuring a listserv and real-time chatroom where students, scholars, practitioners, and activists can connect and work together to better understand and help transform inner cities and the metropolitan regions of which they are a part.  Sponsored by the Urban Affairs Association and the Center for Urban Studies at the University at Buffalo, the site disseminates research findings about urbanism and urbanization.

Cyburbia  Cyburbia is an Internet resource directory for the built environment, offering resources related to planning and architecture, an online magazine, and bulletin boards/discussion groups.

East Bay Asian Local Development Corporation  EBALDC is a community development organization dedicated to the betterment of the East Bay Community, particularly the low-income and Asian and Pacific Islander population, through development of physical, human, and economic assets for individuals and community organizations.

FirstGov   Provides housing and community information about financing and maintaining a home, building or improving a safe and livable community, and what to do in emergencies and disasters.

Great Cities Institute  Engaged urban research at the University of Illinois at Chicago relies on collaboration and partnerships between the university and individuals and organizations in the public and private sectors.

Great Valley Center  The mission of the Great Valley Center is to support activities and organizations that promote the economic, social and environmental well-being of California's Great Central Valley, the area stretching 450 miles north to south from Mount Shasta to the Tehachapi Mountains and 50 miles east to west from the foothills of the Sierra Nevada to the crest of the Coast Ranges.

Interactive University Project (UC Berkeley)  The Interactive University is a collaboration between UC Berkeley and Bay Area schools and communities to explore how the Internet may best be used to support K-12 teachers, students, and families in all communities.

League of California Cities   The League of California Cities is an association of California city officials who work together to enhance their knowledge and skills, exchange information, and combine resources so that they may influence policy decisions that affect cities.

Legislative Analyst's Office  The Legislative Analyst's Office provides fiscal and policy advice to the Legislature. It is known for its fiscal and programmatic expertise and nonpartisan analyses of the state's budget.

Lincoln Institute of Land Policy  The Institute aims to improve the quality of debate and disseminate knowledge of critical issues in land use and tax policy through professional development courses, research and publications.

Local Initiatives Support Corporation   LISC provides grants, loans and equity investments to community development corporations for neighborhood redevelopment.

Metropolitan Forum Project  The Metropolitan Forum Project has as its central mission to increase citizen involvement in government processes through improving public understanding of the fiscal relationships between state, regional and local government, and intelligently investing voter approved school, park, library and other public dollars to build new facilities and better neighborhoods in the urban centers of California.

Metropolitan Transportation Commission   The Metropolitan Transportation Commission is the transportation planning, coordinating and financing agency for the nine-county San Francisco Bay Area.

National Community Building Network   NCBN is an alliance of individuals and organizations that work to reduce poverty and create social and economic opportunity through comprehensive community building strategies.

Office of University Partnerships (U.S. Deparment of Housing & Urban Development)  Recognizing the crucial role that America's institutions of higher education can play in rebuilding communities large and small, HUD established the Office of University Partnerships in 1994 to encourage and expand the efforts of institutions of higher education that are striving to make a difference in their communities through funding opportunities.

Planners Network  The Planners Network is an association of professionals, activists, academics, and students involved in physical, social, economic and environmental planning in urban and rural areas, who promote fundamental change in our political and economic system.

PlannersWeb  PlannersWeb is a site with many city and regional planning resources.  It is home to the Planning Commissioners Journal as well as planning reports, links, sprawl resource guide and tracking trends that affect communities.

PolicyLink  PolicyLink is a national advocacy, research, capacity building, and communications organization advancing a new generation of policies to achieve social and economic equity through the wisdom, voice and experience of local constituencies.

Public Policy Institute of California   The Public Policy Institute of California is a private, nonprofit organization dedicated to independent, objective nonpartisan research on economic, social and political issues that affect the lives of Californians.

San Francisco Planning & Urban Research Association  The San Francisco Planning & Urban Research Association (SPUR) is San Francisco's preeminent public policy think tank.  Through research, analysis, public education, and advocacy, SPUR promotes good planning and good government.

Senate Office of Research  The Senate Office of Research is a bipartisan office of public-policy specialists that develops public policy initiatives for the California Senate, conducts strategic policy planning, evaluates policy initiatives from sources both inside and outside government, and assists members, committees and commissions of the California Senate in bringing ideas to enactment and providing the public with an understanding of state issues.

Surface Transportation Policy Project  The goal of The Surface Transportation Policy Project is to ensure that transportation policy and investments help conserve energy, protect environmental and aesthetic quality, strengthen the economy, promote social equity, and make communities more livable -- emphasizing the needs of people, rather than vehicles, in assuring access to jobs, services, and recreational opportunities.

Sustainable Community Roundtable  The Sustainable Community Roundtable is facilitating a process of dialogue, vision, action, and celebration to help create a sustainable community in South Puget Sound in the state of Washington.

Unity Council  The Unity Council provides leadership and community advocacy, social service delivery, and economic development aimed at enriching the quality of life of families and children in the Fruitvale neighborhood, the City of Oakland, and Alameda County.

University of California Transportation Center (UCTC)  Transportation research does more than just investigate how to move people and freight around; it also studies ways of meeting basic social goals, distributing goods and services, expanding production and trade, improving urban structure, creating jobs, and reducing poverty. The Center recognizes that transportation is one component of a societal system that is affected by and has effects on the movement of goods, people, and information. The Center draws on the knowledge of many disciplines, including but not limited to engineering, economics, urban planning, and management, in its efforts to support studies that analyze transportation systems and the public policies that are integral to them.

Urban Habitat Program  The Urban Habitat Program is dedicated to building multicultural urban environmental leadership for socially just, ecologically sustainable communities in the San Francisco Bay Area.  UHP has assisted numerous organizations working on environmental justice issues including health, food security, recycling, energy, military base conversion, arts and culture, education, immigration and population, and parks and open space.

Urban Strategies Council   The Urban Strategies Council is a non-profit policy, advocacy and community building organization based in Oakland, California, whose mission is to eliminate persistent poverty and help transform low income neighborhoods into vibrant, healthy communities.

Urban Affairs Association   UAA is an international professional organization for urban scholars, researchers and public service providers.  UAA sponsors the Journal of Urban Affairs, a refereed quarterly publishing manuscripts related to urban research and policy analysis.

Urban Land Institute   The mission of the Urban Land Institute is to provide leadership in the responsible use of land to enhance the total environment.

U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development  The Department of Housing and Urban Development is the federal agency responsible for national policy and programs that address America's housing needs, that improve and develop the nation's communities, and enforce fair housing laws.
